In an age where the life span of the “next new thing” is measured in weeks or -at most- months, fifty years on continuous innovation and leadership is an outstanding accomplishment! Case is Celebrating the 50th anniversary of its creation of the integrated Tractor Loader Backhoe (TLB).
When Case introduced the first 320 TLB in February of 1957, it was the first integrated TLB design. Case matched the rugged 320 industrial tractor with a Case backhoe. It was the first time a TLB had been offered that was engineered, manufactured, marketed, supported and warranted by one company.
Until Case introduced the 320, backhoes had consisted of a will-fit backhoe mounted on the back of an agricultural tractor. Agricultural tractors were not designed for the stresses and strains that a backhoe’s work imposed on them, and problems were predictable.
The creation of the Case 320 TLB was a mixture of strong-willed individuals, innovative engineering, market recognition, and timing. Case Company lore has been built around this amalgam that resulted in a world-class product. Case is still recognized around the world as the backhoe leader.
CNH produced a total of (11) of the “actual” real life Backhoes. 4 went to Europe, 1 to Mexico and 6 remained in the USA.
The NEW Ertl 1/16 580 Super M, Series II TLB is the latest in precision replica series. It features new tooling and unique 50th anniversary Graphics and packaging. The right side window decal pictures a vintage backhoe at work, under the gaze of the famous Case Eagle on a Globe Trademark, while the left side window graphics depict what a future Case backhoe might look like at work
